A master oblong ring (also called a master oblong link or master link) is a heavy-duty, forge-welded or drop-forged alloy steel loop used as the primary connection point at the top of a rigging assembly. It collects single or multiple sling legs (wire rope, chain, or synthetic) and seats directly onto a crane hook, hoist bowl, or shackle.
